Dis-Oriental, 2008

 

Images from the series 'Dis-Oriental' are simulations involving identity constructs and spatial metaphors communicating a cultural displacement narrative.

The dynamic tensions of cultural influences from East and West are expressed through dual spaces above and below mirrored surfaces and compartmentalised rooms.

A migrant's disorientated world is described through Dis-Oriental's narrative sequence which weaves in and out of Daydreams and Reality. Surreal dreamscapes disrupts notions of familiar surburban reality, raising feelings of 'Uncanny' or UnHomeliness.
